David Boone

Chief Executive Officer

David is an experienced healthcare executive with a background spanning multi-site, ancillary medical solutions and healthcare technology, as well as extensive experience with consumer product companies. A past national finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Program for Health Care, he most recently served as the CEO of Alacura and American CareSource.

David has held executive roles with a variety of publicly traded and start-up organizations including Kraft General Foods, Sears, PepsiCo, Safeway, and Belo Corporation, in addition to serving as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Boone is a member of the board of directors of National Western Life Insurance (NWLI) and is their lead independent director. David also served on several private company and non-profit boards, as well as the lead independent director, audit chair, and executive committee member of Track Group (TRCK). He has a BS in accountancy with high honors from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dr. Schaffer is the CMO for United Allergy Services. Dr. Schaffer is board certified in allergy/immunology and in pediatrics. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from the City College of New York and received a master’s degree in nutritional biochemistry from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then graduated from medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical College. Dr. Schaffer completed his residency at Einstein University Hospital from 1981 to 1984 and then undertook his first fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Schaffer completed an additional fellowship at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Developmental and Clinical Immunology and remained at the University as a Senior Research Associate. While in private practice, Dr. Schaffer was also an assistant professor of allergy/immunologist/pediatric rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and an attending allergist at the Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi. In 2002, he joined the Medical University of South Carolina Pediatrics Department as associate professor of allergy/immunology and pediatric rheumatology.

Currently in private practice, Dr. Schaffer is a fellow at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; and the American Immunology Association. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and by The American Board of Allergy/Immunology. Dr. Schaffer has participated in more than 25 clinical trials, is widely published, has received numerous awards and is an active symposium speaker.

Dr. James joined the United Allergy Services Advisory Board in January 2021. As a member of the UAS Advisory Board, his primary role is participating in thought-leading sessions, advancing the scope and understanding of the UAS leadership team while offering continual feedback for improvement and refinement of existing products and protocols, as well as suggesting new service recommendations.

Dr. James is a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. After graduating from Texas Tech Medical School and concluding residency at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, he has been in pediatric practice since 2000. Secondary to his role in medicine, Dr. James is also a successfully published author of books for parents: A First Time Parent’s Survival Guide: A How-To-Manual for the First Two Years, The Big Book of Why for Parents, and Secrets for a Successful Pediatric Practice. With over 20 years of pediatric and business experience, Dr. James resides and practices in Tennessee.
